Friends Joining Forces
Lifelong friends from Hinckley have joined forces to launch their own business. A former commercial property manager with Wards Surveyors, Frances Miller, and Claire Hewitt, a former corporate trainer, share a passion for France and a love of continental fabrics, and decided to set up a company incorporating the type of linen and cotton wipeclean fabrics they enjoy using abroad, for use as tablecloths, together with a range of hand made accessories.
Franclaire Fabrics was officially launched in July. Based at Hinckley's Sparkenhoe Business Centre, the two friends, together with Claire's mum, Jenny Robinson, an experienced seamstress, buy in textiles from across the channel and create a range of accessories, from peg bags to baby bibs, which together with their tablecloths, they sell online and at craft and county fairs across the country.
Frances's husband has designed special stands for displaying and transporting the fabrics, and together with the help of Claire and Jenny's husbands, they have constructed and varnished these stands and they all now help out at events.
Franclaire's fabrics are now being used as tablecloths in The Vine Coffee Shop in The Borough, and will soon be in the new Dolly's Tea Shoppe in Hansom Court, both in Hinckley.
Frances said "It's a change of direction for all of us and we are on a learning curve but we are enjoying it"
