What designs are on trend for 2015
The fabric reps have been to visit us showing off the new designs for the summer, it is one of the most difficult decisions we have to make choosing the new fabrics. We have made bad choices in the past selecting fabrics that we liked that have just not sold well. We are trying to learn from our past mistakes but there is not always a pattern to what sells well and which designs are less popular. As trends change trying to keep up and be at the forefront of any new fashions is difficult. If only we had a crystal ball or a reliable soothsayer we could turn to, I am sure that would make the whole process much easier.
We have the reliable good sellers, checked tablecloths and spotty ones are always popular as are the stripped tablecloths. There seems to be a trend at the minute for a 1950s and 60s kitsch look, which has led to some of our brighter floral patterns selling well. What will the future hold? What new designs are going to be our best sellers in 2015?
I have been researching what colours are likely to be in the spotlight and Pantone are saying
“This season there is a move toward the cooler and softer side of the colour spectrum. An eclectic, ethereal mix of understated brights, pale pastels and nature-like neutrals take centre stage as designers draw from daydreams of simpler times. Remembrances of retro delights, folkloric and floral art, and the magical worlds of tropical landscapes restore a sense of well-being as we head into warmer months.”
So where does that leave us? What choices should we make on that basis? We decided that we are going to increase our range of plain fabrics taking on board some of the colours they think will be popular including mustard, subtle raspberry and a mellow grey. We are looking forward to them arriving any time soon and adding them to our catalogue. We will continue to stock the florals and the retro designs that sold well last year and keep our eyes peeled for the next big trend. Please let us know if you see it coming!
